Hotel Rewards Smart Travel Choices

Cambridge, MA is synonymous with intelligence. Home to MIT and Harvard, the city is practically a ‘smart idea’ factory. But this particular smart idea comes from the Charles Hotel, which has developed an array of integrated benefits for guests who make smart transportation choices. Beyond the free EV and hybrid charging station in the hotel’s garage, the hotel now uses NanoMAX, a new, patented detection system that measures the size of vehicles entering a parking facility and adjusts the parking rate accordingly.

Smaller vehicles that have a lesser environmental impact are assessed a lower rate as a reward to the guest. The garage also has premium spots reserved for guests who drive smaller vehicles such as Mini Coopers and Smart Cars. We wonder when others (hotels/malls/airports) will follow suit.
